At long last my official blog spot for my job has begun! It's only just started, so stay tuned for more posts. I will continue writing here about personal adventures and less work / turtle related topics. For those of you that want to check out the work blog or plan on coming to work / volunteer in the future, here is the link for all those things:

With all of that up and running now, I'm finally starting to believe that all of this is real, I'm not going to wake up from a dream, and I actually do have my dream job! I work for an adventure company! I get paid to have fun! I couldn't be more pleased.
This week has been packed full of fun and rewarding activities that range far and wide. The days are passing rapidly while all merging into one. And we're only just getting started.
Let me tell you what I did in an effort to convince you to move here with me:
I have been meeting lots of new people and learning about local and country politics. I have also been learning a ton about turtles and can't wait to start helping them back to the sea!
Indonesia is an amazing country with immense diversity in culture and ecosystems. I get the feeling that I'm never going to stop learning here. I'm going to go ahead and say it, I think all the mosquito bites, giant spiders, sea snakes, terrible coffee, and sunburns are absolutely a fair trade for all the other great stuff I get to do.
I hope you all had a great Holiday and got to spend it doing exactly what you wanted to be doing with all the people you wanted to be with. I may not have been with all the people I wanted to be with for the holidays but I certainly feel like the luckiest lady alive right now. And as this year slips by us, may 2015 treat everybody with more love and care than 2014 offered us. I hope you can all get out there and make the best of the days and live your dreams, because life's not getting any longer and there is too much amazing stuff out there to miss out on.
So, if you need a tropical vacation to make your days better, I'll be here waiting!

- went cruising in a traditional fishing boat with locals
- saw a large pack of baby dolphins
- snorkeled the reef at Kanawa Island
- butchered christmas dinner, from pet to plate
- ate my weight in tropical fruit
- kayaked from an out of town pearl farm back to Labuan Bajo (oh the beauty!)
- met with the head of the village I will be working with. he is responsible for sustaining their Manggarai culture and the most polite human i have ever met
- chased a banana spider around my house a million times, in hopes of getting it before it gets me, to no avail
- got the best (worst) sunburn I've ever had (from snorkeling. oops, i live on the equator!)
- tomorrow, riding a scooter across the island to hand over plans for the building of our first structure on Panta Hera (my house)!
